Event Timing: Please submit bids before Spring 2026 Assembly. The Corrections Committee will discuss all submissions on Friday April 10, 2026. Feel free to present your bid in-person and here. We hope to be able to announce the event on the floor of the assembly on Saturday April 11, 2026 in Chesapeake.
Please form a host committee within your district, or partner with other districts/intergroups to propose a place, time, format, and rough idea of costs for the annual VAC Corrections Workshop. There are budgeted funds available to help seed this event You will be able to upload a PDF version of a flier or other document into this form below. Things to consider found here.

Corrections Committee

The Corrections Committee seeks to carry the message to incarcerated alcoholics by bringing meetings and literature into facilities, raising awareness of the Corrections Correspondence Service (C.C.S.) among “inside” and “outside” A.A. members and helping individuals in custody transition to a local A.A. community through Prerelease Contacts

Are you currently carrying the message inside the walls in Virginia? If so, we would like to have a current roster of trusted servants. This information is never public and treated as confidential.

The workbook is a valuable resource, compiled from shared A.A. service experience. It provides guidance, and ideas for A.A. members carrying the message "behind the walls."

The Corrections Kit contains the workbook, corrections- specific pamphlets, DVDs, guides to using Grapevine and LaViña in corrections work, and more.
Directed to A.A.members seeking to carry the message to incarcerated alcoholics, this leaflet presents basic information and suggests various ways to be of service. Notes things to keep in mind when speaking in prisons and other correctional facilities.
For correctional professionals including probation officers, prison administrators, and those in the judicial system who deal with alcoholics, this pamphlet explains how A.A. groups function in prisons and offers institutional opinions recommending A.A. as a helpful ally.
In the spirit of cooperating with correctional facility requirements for correspondence and mail, here are some suggested guidelines drawn from shared experience to help you when writing to A.A. members on the “inside”
